Our Integrity Sets Us Apart
At RTF (Retail Tenant Finish) we use our more than 25 years of experience to serve the owner's interest by preventing overruns. We are above board. If we come across omissions or mistakes in the plans we immediately notify the architecture prior to the bid date. This avoids change-orders durring the project and saves money. This level of integrity sets us apart and leads to repeat customers.
No Substitute for Experience
Retail construction is a completely different animal. Contractors must be prepared for a complete design change halfway through the project, and still must complete the project on time because of a pre-announced grand-opening date. Only experienced retail contractors can handle the stress. We work double-shifts, weekends, and go the extra step of finishing three-thousand square feet of retail space at night while the space is occupied. Only a seasoned contractor such as RTF can pull this off.
We were among a select group of pre-qualified contractors to work at Atlanta's Lenox Square, the fifth highest revenue-generating mall in the country. We built 34 stores at Lenox including the mall office. We were chosen over more than 200 other contractors for this honor.
Hard Times, New Opportunities
Between 2008 and 2015 retail construction slowed to a snail’s pace. During that seven-year period we didn’t see one retail store up for bid. During that time, we had to focus on other work to stay afloat. The high-quality work we did on the 34 retail stores we built for Lenox Square mall opened the door to new opportunities for us during the economic recession which began in 2008. A customer who had seen our work on the Lenox Square stores was so impressed that they asked us to bid on the contract to renovate their church. We brought the same commitment to high quality and client-focused service to our new venture in church construction and renovation that helped us succeed in retail.
From there, we added church renovation and construction to our portfolio of services. Since that time church construction, expansion and renovation has become a ajor focus of our business. The same client-focused attention to service and detail that made RTF successful in the retail market is appreciated by ministers and church boards. After including church construction, we later added restaurant construction, historical renovation, and metal building construction to the services we offered.
Becoming A Major Player In Retail Construction
Retail and Tenant Finish Contractors got our start more than 25 years ago, focusing primarily on retail construction. We were fortunate to be a major contractor for Lenox Square in Atlanta. Lenox is one of the most upscale malls in the country, and it’s the fifth highest in generating revenue. We built 34 of its 250 stores, including its corporate office.
We’ve also built ten stores in North Point Mall in Alpharetta, Georgia, and seven stores at Sugarloaf Mills (formerly called Discover Mills).
We’ve renovated a 30,000 square-foot H&M store in ninety-days without disrupting the tenant’s business environment or disturbing the customer’s shopping experience. H&M is one of the largest fashion retailers in the world. And for every store we hit the date. In retail construction, you hit the date or you don’t get any more work. It’s how you build and maintain a good reputation. Retail and Tenant Finish Contractors has completed retail work in five southern states (Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama). We focus primarily on a 240-mile radius from our home location in Atlanta so that if there’s an emergency our owners can drive to any work site within twenty-four hours.
Also, it enables our team of subcontractors, that we regularly work with, to be within striking distance This also allows us to bring a team approach to every work site. This in turn helps us maintain high quality. One of our strengths is that we’ve been able to establish a solid network of experienced and reliable subcontractors who are team-oriented. Emphasizing a team-focused approach and awarding good subcontractors with timely and good pay contributes greatly to our success. It’s allowed us to also establish a team-focused relationship among the owner, the architects and our construction team; and leads to a high-quality job for a fair price.
